Utilizing a chamber mockup with several entry points, the trainee is guided through safe, step-by-step working and emergency rescue procedures. This course is designed for UBC members who work around and may be required to enter confined spaces. Statistics compiled by NIOSH show that confined space accidents, more than any other type of workplace emergency, are likely to result in death. Failure to provide your own safety equipment may result in your being dropped from a particular training session. Members attending training must provide their own safety shoes, safety goggles, gloves, ear protection and hard hats. A portion of the class will be tailored to individual student needs, whether you want to learn how to upload photos from your phone, create good looking invoices or resumes, or use the DUA website. We will learn to search the web effectively, check e-mail, and download and save files. Students will be introduced to Microsoft Office and Google programs, including typing, spreadsheet and slideshow applications. This introductory 5-hour course covers the fundamentals of computer use. Certificate Expiration: No expiration date.Pre-Requisites: Metal Stud Soffit Framing class is recommended.Tools and/or supplies needed: Clear safety glasses/goggles, hard hat, work boots, framing square, speed square, hammer, tool belt, tape measure, utility knife, aviation snips, four 6″ “C” vise grip clamps, 7″ or 8″ linesman pliers, drywall jab saw. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, the member will become an Armstrong Certified Installer. These Armstrong components include Drywall Grid, QuikStix®, ShortSpan®, Stucco/Plaster Grid®, strong backs, and Drywall related accessories. Stick built and modular suspended ceilings and soffits will be fabricated using various drywall grid components. This course will focus on job planning, layout, creation of templates, and installation of flat drywall grid ceiling and soffits.
